
The activities of the second session of the annual international forum for postgraduate students abroad were concluded under the title Prosthetic limb technologies, orthotics, and movement aids which continued for two days under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Academy of Scientific Research, and the Electronics Research Institute. The activities began with a speech by Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader. Muharram, Chairman of the Forum, thanked the forums sponsors and attendees. She also pointed out that Egypt is witnessing remarkable progress in the field of supporting and empowering people with disabilities, and that the forum aims to combine academic expertise with manufacturing and international expertise in order to prepare specialized technical cadres to meet the needs of society in that field.Major General Mohamed Ali Metwally, Deputy Director of the Technical Research and Development Department of the Armed Forces, also gave a speech in which he stressed the importance of the forum and its role, in light of the Egyptian state’s interest in promoting local technologies for prosthetic limbs, orthotics, and movement aids. Major General Doctor Eid Mahmoud Al-Taweel, Advisor to the Minister of Defense for Education, stressed Medical and prosthetic devices stressed the keenness of the General Command of the Armed Forces to cooperate with all concerned parties to provide all facilities for people with special abilities, stressing the importance of the forum’s topic and the efforts made by the state in this field. In his speech, Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, praised the success of the forum, Emphasizing the state’s interest in establishing an integrated system of high-level medical services for citizens with mobility disabilities on a sound scientific basis. The current session of the forum included 22 lectures, including lectures by a number of international and local companies and 17 lectures by researchers from various countries. More than 500 researchers on The world, and researchers from various universities participated from inside Egypt.The forum shed light on the challenges facing the field of prosthetic devices and mobility aids and how to overcome them. The forum concluded with many recommendations aimed at supporting the system of prosthetic limbs, orthotics and mobility aids.

Within the framework of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to pay attention to and continuously develop the system of prosthetic devices and their production in Egypt, with the aim of possessing the national capacity for manufacturing and production by following the latest international standards in that field, in addition to providing advanced qualification programs for training in the use of these devices. Devices, Egypt is organizing the second international forum for postgraduate students abroad under the title “Technologies of prosthetics, orthotics, and movement aids,” over the course of the next 26 and 27 February via the Internet (video conference), sponsored by the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Academy of Scientific Research. Technology and the Electronics Research Institute. The forum aims to shed light on the most important emerging technologies that serve the current and future needs of the Arab and international community and draw an advanced road map for applied research and innovations, in addition to creating a space for communication between those with visions and common goals while providing opportunities for cooperation between researchers around the world. The forum will also discuss opportunities to finance research projects and grants that contribute to developing the field of orthotics, prosthetics, and mobility aids.
The forum is also an ideal platform for interaction between professors, delegated students, Egyptian students, experts and researchers from various prestigious international universities and well-known research institutions to increase the speed of transfer of expertise and research ideas between different scientific schools in the field of prosthetic devices. It is worth noting that more than 360 student participants participated in the first forum. Egyptian delegations, graduate students from 27 Arab and foreign countries, a number of ministers, and an elite group of specialists in that field.
In its second session, the forum is expected to witness the presentation of about 20 lectures to graduate students abroad via the Internet using the Webex platform. The forum will be divided into four sessions, two sessions per day, where each session will include five lectures (the duration of each lecture is 20 minutes), each chaired by A session by a specialized professor from the same field presented in the session. Lectures from major leading companies in the field will also be held within the forum’s activities in order to link industry with the field of scientific research.
